Tekla Structures 14, the latest version of Tekla’s BIM (building information modeling) software, is here. This new version introduces an improved task-oriented user interface, more logical menus that follow the user’s workflow, and more organized toolbars. All this enables shorter learning curve for new users and many benefits for existing users of Tekla Structures. It is now easier to learn and find any related commands. UI terminology is more logical and easy-to understand, for example ‘Free place’ command is now ‘Arrange drawing objects’.
In addition to more logical menus, Tekla Structures 14 uses a new more flexible FLEXnet licensing system. With FLEXnet you can get your license faster and smoother and utilize your license base more efficiently. This kind of licensing offers better protection against software piracy as well as more secure license management.
Tekla Structures 14 features improved multi-user tools and other benefits, too. You can now automatically stay in queue to save your work. The new “soft drawing locks” notify you of possible drawing editing conflicts, and it is easier to see which drawings others have modified. Model history is more informative than before, and there is an administrative tool available for removing model locks from the multiuser server. Outdated drawing files can now be deleted automatically. |

Tekla Structures 14 introduces several improvements to structural engineering, for example to cast-in-place modeling. Conceptual rebar modeling has been added to the Tekla Structures, Engineering configuration. You can create reinforcement, including bending types, splice, and intelligent copy, as well as split slabs and walls, and use slab topping for drainage tool.
General Arrangement (GA) drawings have been improved in Tekla Structures 14. The new version features intelligent copy of all views, for example plans, by cloning. There are more presentation options for different drawing objects, and it is now easier to place and handle reinforcement marks. One more improvement is with design group numbering.
Reference model management is more efficient than ever with Tekla Structures 14. There are more options for reference model information management, commenting of object, and task assignment. Other benefits include better clash detection, wider collaboration with other disciplines, for example more links to A&D software, and Tekla Open API™ links to, for example, SAP2000.
The Tekla Structures analysis model is easier to manipulate in version 14, and exchanged formats have been enhanced for industry-standard dataexchange, for example through IFC.

Select parts and make them into a subassambly

Additional and more comprehensive PEB components |
Improvements for steel detailing and fabrication in Tekla Structures 14 include easier modeling of assemblies and improvements in nested assemblies: you can split assembly into sub-assemblies, or assembly, set as main assembly, and explode sub-assembly. The Inquire Assembly dialog is now customizable. In addition, control of drawings has been improved again.
Tekla Structures 14 features automatic cloning from customer drawing standards, partial profile presentation, and more automatic bracing detail dimensioning. The drawing editing tools are also better than before: you can add exaggerated dimensions and fix drawing view location, and dragged marks are automatically set to Fixed. Hiding a part from a drawing now shows the hidden objects.
Tekla Structures 14 for steel detailing and fabrication provides modeling tools for offshore, PEB, and miscellaneous steel. You can create customized PEB frame with single click, use improved ladder components and more versatile stair components, as well as create single part welds (tube) and multiple parts and lengths. There are now more system components (147 and 123) available with automatic weld preparation.
Integration to fabrication has been widened with pop-mark improvements, e.g. visibility in drawings, position cases, and pop marks for secondary parts. Tekla Structures 14 also features additional DSTV options, for example quantity based on selection.

Tekla Structures 14 offers several improvements for precast concrete detailing and manufacturing. There are new tools for hollow core; for example floor layout is now more efficient to do. Integration to manufacturing is wider than before, including more links to production planning systems (Betsy, HMS) and automated production systems (Unitechnik & BVBS export), as well as Tekla Open API™ for customer-specific integration tools.
In Tekla Structures 14, reinforcement modeling has been made easier with new wall reinforcement component and intelligent copy of reinforcement. It is also more efficient to handle of large models in Tekla Structures 14, as its optimized storage of connection parameters decreases the model size.
In addition, drawing production is more efficient. In Tekla Structures 14, reinforcement dimensions are automatic and you can use reinforcement marking (rotate, UI, base point) as well as automatic cloning using customer standards.
